Self-Care Challenge!!

The danger with "self-care" rhetoric is that in excess, when the self begins to obsess about ones own belly-button a little too much, the self forgets to care for others. This danger is compounded by access to self-care. Do you have more access to self-care? Let's start with do you have a voice? The abled voice allows you access to the means to set an appointment for a mani-pedi. The money you make using your abled voice allows you access to pay for that mani-pedi. Do you know how to use your voice? If you do, what are you doing to contribute to discussions about increasing opportunities for all to have it? When was the last time you set a self-care appointment for someone who does not have an abled voice or the means by which to pay for it? Would you be willing to sacrifice one of your self-care rituals for someone who might not have the physical or financial supports to go to a concert, a spa, a fine dining restaurant? Is there an adult without such privileges whom you can reach out to; find out what makes her/him tick happy? It is your job to walk the bridge that is between you--not theirs!!! It's good to be invested in your mental health!

It's gorgeous to be invested in others' mental health too!

One hour of your time, one financial sacrifice, could create a memory that one spends hours with....

I challenge you to give this kind of self-care gift to someone and POST IT! :)
