Nine times out of ten,

Mama works, reads or does bills during her son’s out-of-home therapy sessions.

She checks off her lists and fills in her favorite daily planner and feels like she’s nailing this work-life-mom balance thang.

But then there is this small fraction of time,

where her productive energies are low,

when the petroleum that lubricates her thoughts is depleted,

when watching the sands of three-more-minutes-of-therapy countdown is like a dreaded dance between her and her patience; two dancers that just.can’t.step.together.right.now.

This is when she usually decides to flirt with her husband, when she decides to send selfies to, you know, keep the marriage alive.

She’s very good at these selfies; unbelievable actually.

She’s likely nailing this work-life-mom-wife balance thang too.

It’s pretty clear, I think.

Public Service Announcement: According to an article published on the Interactive Autism Network on April 11th 2017, researchers from Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins University conducted a case study involving 78,000 parents and 913 children diagnosed with autism and confirmed that parents with autistic children are no more likely to divorce than any other parents. Many parents disclosed unique sets of marital challenges and strains related to raising autistic children. The researchers suspect that couples continue to stay together for financial and/emotional reasons or because couples rely on each other to raise their child and feel a sense of social isolation. Some parents also disclosed in their research that autism brought them closer together, which for Lucas and Heidi Ochoa has been the case.
