Schedules and Outcomes
Since Dublin was 18 months old, as a group (Lucas, ABA therapists, and I) have worked with Dublin to accomplish the goals in this schedule. He is farther along in some of the goals than others. Dublin can, for example, turn the water on and put soap on independently, but has not yet mastered rubbing soap on hands or drying his hands off without being reminded.
This educational process has informed my classroom teaching. I have realized that as an educator, I must be mindful of the goals that must be broken down a bit more before the expectation of mastery can occur. The schedule in particular has taught me that structure and goals are key in producing outcomes. Big things can happen if you take tiny, organized, thoughtful steps toward them!.
Me thinks Dublin's schedule will soon be filled with more pictures! #TeamOchoaineffect#autismschedules#visualizeandactualizeoutcomes
