Power in Pointing
Beautiful it is when your eight-year-old son first learns to point at items he wants.
Up until learning this skill, our king would cry, kick and scream, as we left store aisles bewildered, not knowing which of the items on the shelves he felt he was abandoning and may never again see.
Now that he knows what he wants and how to communicate it, the king
points, and points, and points, and points at everything his big heart desires.
He has discovered the power of his nonverbal communication.
Also, now that he knows what he wants and how to communicate it, his parents happily spend, and spend, and spend, as this is the kind of spoiling that they've always wanted to do for their son on holidays, after big achievements, or even just cruising through the grocery store after a long day at work.
His parents have discovered the power of knowing and being able to give their baby what he wants; to feed his desires.
My baby gets what my baby points to and today he points at Barney.
He also talks to Barney and throws Barney outside of the car window and the purple dinosaur bounces across the freeway like a rock in a lake.
Mama wonders what it was like to be in another moving car watching this purple rock weave across the lake’s lanes.
Bye, bye, Barney.
Bye, bye 30 dollars.
