Eating Nouns
As parents and teachers, one important lesson that my husband and I have learned about language acquisition is our species likes to use words that express what we want. Words that don't reflect what we want don't register.
Dublin is not really all that interested in verbs.
He loves nouns.
When we associate verbs with his favorite nouns, we learn verbs, which is why we "eat" a lot of "donuts."
We want donuts.
We want nouns.
