Because

I will NEVER forget the day my son realized he was at HIS own birthday party.

It was June 10th, 2017.

The four years before his fifth birthday,

I knew deep down inside that I threw parties for him, not because he had a set of friends that he recognized, not because he knew he was turning another year older, not because he loved cake,

because he didn't have, know, love any of those people or things.

Mama threw these parties because.

Well, just BECAUSE!

AND THIS YEAR, Dublin knew it was his birthday! His cake! His candles to blow out! He knew people were singing for him and that when they were done, he had a job to do!

You should know, I did not anticipate his knowing. Up until his birthday party, not a sign in Dublin's facial or vocal expressions showed that he was cognizant of knowing that he was turning "5" and that we were having a party just for him.

You should also know, that I would not have known what Dublin knew, if  WE ROCK THE SPECTRUM (the party place), had not nurtured this special needs mama, allowing her to do nothing during her son's party, except watch her son.

So thank you to ROCK THE SPECTRUM, BECAUSE special needs parents sometimes need help seeing the BECAUSE....because we get too busy to see the because.

AND thank you to our family and friends that shared our BECAUSE with us!
