as a college professor who teaches performance,
as a parent,
as a performance consumer,
I have noticed that some of the most beautiful performances are delivered only by the untrained voice and body
it is through the untrained voice and body that those of us who are trained learn that our training has prevented us from seeing and doing what makes a performance whole and real.
resist consuming only those of us who are trained.
celebrate the voices and bodies who intentionally or unintentionally resist training.
the whole and real is in the resistance.
