Pour Out A Little
You'd think we'd learn.
But we don't.
We still leave our full coffee cups on low surfaces.
We turn our backs.
Dublin pours out a little coffee, making a river for his cars to swim in.
Liquid play captivates his sensory.
We still leave our mineral waters on the counter.
He tips the bottle, pours out a little mineral water.
He flaps his hands and yells "waterfall!!!!!"
He laughs, runs a full circle around the house and forgets about the mess he left behind.
Dublin pours out a little...a lot.
Our dryer slugs through the weight of wet towels,
Our floors collect puddles,
Our legs squat into a now conditioned pose that we no longer grunt through.
You'd think we'd learn.
That we wouldn't leave drinks out all over the house.
Or at our friend's house.
Or on the ledge of their jacuzzi.
Yesterday, Dublin poured out a little glass of wine in her jacuzzi...with the kids in it.
My heart jumps, but my friends...they are laughing.
Grateful are we that our friends laugh through these moments where Dublin demonstrates an inability to see the difference between liquids and their uses.
Or his lack of liquid etiquette.
We have a special life. With special people. Who constantly pour out a lot of love.
