I Mean, You Mean
"You are such a good mom. I mean...I couldn't do it."
"You mean. You wouldn't be there for your child (or even another loved one) when he needed you?
You wouldn't change his diaper,
feed him,
clean after him,
take a blow for him,
when he needed you?
You mean. He looks like a handful."
You mean!?!
I mean. I know you are trying to compliment, intentionally,
the best way you know how....
but...unintentionally....you are coming off...gross?
Your very existence...and I know you don't mean it...is more of a handful than my son will ever be.
Ugh. [insert disapproving duckface here]
I know you don't mean it. It's just I don't think you know what you mean.
I shall go plunge my face into a pillow now.
It's a restorative pose really--depositing your emotions into giving fabric....
I mean. I know you are not trying to be mean.
