Courage

“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength,

while loving someone deeply gives you courage.”

Laozi, Chinese Philosopher

My son may have a little obsession with his mama.

He may want her to go and be everywhere.

Even if it’s just to sit still with him in the backseat of a car and stare off for an hour or so.

He gives me strength.

He also gives me the courage to stand strong, meet the eyes, and hear the criticism of the public even during his most volatile meltdowns.

Because I refuse to fear the public’s thoughts of me.

My greatest and only fear will always be that I did not serve him, love him to the best of my ability and that means

to stand strong

meet the eyes

hear the criticism of the public

because my son will not lose the opportunity to learn how to be in the world because I didn’t have the courage to show him how to do it.
