BOOM! PROGRESS REPORT, 2017- 2018
Academic Year 2017-2018
Potty Training!! For the most part, THE KING still likes an occasional pee in the backyard or shower, but hey...who doesn't...am I right? He knows where to go and now initiates going on his own with an occasional reminder that he needs to go pee. He's only had one accident in over a year, but in the relatively recent past it was common for us to see that he was frustrated and after crossing off his checklist of frustrations would discover that he was frustrated because he was holding. Still gotta work on the wiping though....and the stripping completely down (and I mean completely down--the KING likes to take his shirt and pants off to pee) before leaving the living room and entering the bathroom. Hasn't worn a diaper since October of last year! Boom!
Aggression!! After much research, meditation and hard work with and by Lily, teachers, and therapists, we are seeing significant decreases in the King's aggression (biting, head banging, hitting, and throwing)! Life changing--especially for Lily! Boom!
Language!! Our baby has many more words in his vocabulary and is now spontaneously stringing two words together! He also understands more directions than he did before! Boom! Still gets stumped on when to use words. When he gets stumped, he usually balls for a few minutes. We are getting closer to cutting this through road block, I think.
Imitation!! One year ago, the King could not copy people doing body movements when asked. Now he can! He understands how to work his body much, much more! Boom!
Sleep!!! From 18 months old to about 5 years old, the King would wake up and stay up frequently through the night, causing the house sleep deprivation. Approximately 7 months ago, he started sleeping through the night most nights! Life changing--especially for his parents!
These are big gains in Team Ochoa's world!
Some of the King's most recent gains have been coming at a rapid rate!
We just have a really good feeling that we are going to kick 2018-2019 Academic Year's ass!
Just wanted to share that! Boom!
FYI--in this pic, the King is standing in what he likes to call "the jungle" which is my neighbor's front yard, which he likes to spend time in nearly every morning before he gets on the school bus.
