Mask Report

Team Ochoa is happy to report that after 2 months of daily ABA therapy, inducing some of the most lengthy and violent tantrums in both our private and public spheres, our King can finally wear a mask for an extended-but-still-limited period of time, now allowing him access to public spaces, including therapy and medical appointments.

Can you imagine the anxiety it can produce for a nonverbal child with receptive communication delays, that is, a child who lacks speech and comprehension, a child who can’t communicate his discomfort and fear, and also doesn’t quite understand the complexities of the current world’s discomforts and fears, quite suddenly, being told he has to wear a tight cloth over his mouth to gain access to basic therapuetic and medical intervention?

Please excuse me, again, while I roll my eyes at the anti-mask protesters whom are both of body and mind to simply put it on.

Please excuse me, while I go squeeze the pulp out of my child who has overcome his discomfort and fear, made peace with, and even prefers to now wear his mask in public.

My king, my king is much wiser than thee who just can’t shut and/

cover their mouths

to improve the quality of life for others,

to love thy neighbor.
